Caterham has released its latest Superlight Seven model, the R300. Powered by a 2.0-litre Ford Duratec engine, tweaked by Caterham Powertrain to produce 175bhp, the new R300 will sprint to 60mph in 4.5 seconds.
The new R300 weighs a mere 515kg, just 15kg more than CAR’s long-term 1.6-litre Superlight. Combined with the new 175bhp engine, the R300 has a power-to-weight ratio of 339bhp-per-tonne – a Porsche 911 Carrera S has a mere 270 by comparison.
-- At the upcoming World's Greatest Sports Coupes exhibit, which opens April 10, the Petersen asked some well-known celebrities to pick their finest "two-seat, fixed-roof high performance car of all time," many of which they happen to own. Personally, we would have gone with the 1979 Ford Mustang, the Toyota Hilux Surf SSR Limited, or the Deathmobile from "Animal House."

The Subaru Impreza Concept - video below
The Subaru Impreza Concept wasn’t something we expected at the Los Angeles Motor Show last week, but it was welcome news nevertheless. The Impreza’s design has become tired and dated and needed an injection of something fresh, which the Impreza Concept certainly seems to offer. Of course, the Impreza at LA is a concept car and gets some of the usual concept fripperies like cameras for mirrors and no discernible door handles, but the basic design stands up well and should be almost all there when it goes in to production.
